Three Ways to Create Mandarin Orange Pumpkins

Remember to wash the fruit and the celery tops really well before starting.

Celery-Stem Pumpkins

For a quick and easy mandarin orange pumpkin, peel the oranges to reveal their color and lines. Remove most of the white strings and set aside.

Wash a few tops of the celery sticks and take a small piece. Trim them to resemble pumpkin stems, either with or without leaves.

Finally, insert the celery into the top of the mandarin orange, and voila! You have a charming mini pumpkin ready to delight your Halloween party guests.

Sharpie Jack O’Lantern Faces

If you’re short on time or prefer a no-fuss approach, grab the mandarin orange and a Sharpie marker.

Simply draw a classic Jack O’Lantern face on it. This method is kid-friendly, allowing young ones to get involved in decorating while enjoying a juicy snack.

Knife-Carved Jack O’Lanterns

For those with a more artistic inclination and a steady hand, consider using a paring knife to carve the Jack O’Lantern face onto the fruit.

Gently carve the desired face on the mandarin orange peel and remove it to uncover the face. I recommend starting with the mouth and cutting a rounded “u” shape to allow enough space to carve the teeth, then the nose, and finally the triangular eyes.

These mandarin orange pumpkins and Jack O’Lanterns are not just a nutritious treat, but also add a burst of color and Halloween spirit to your holiday festivities.

Happy Halloween!
