Flowing skirts, banging drums, strumming guitars, and smiling faces, that’s the kind of thing I love to see and I found them all at the Disney ¡Viva Navidad! Street Party in Disney California Adventure during our visit just before Thanksgiving.
We saw the show up close at Paradise Gardens. There were danza folklorica dancers stepping and spinning to the popular song, Jarabe Tapatío,…
…the Three Caballeros, Donald Duck, Panchito Pistolas, and Jose Carioca, joined in the fun…
…and a parade of energetic mariachi musicians, samba drummers…
and Mojigangas, or traditional giant puppets, glided from side to side of the parade route.
Mickey and Minnie were decked out in their fiesta best….
and there were spectacular, high-energy, Samba dancers…
moving to the beat of the drum. There were even Mojigangas of Santa and Mrs Claus.
In addition to all that, there were all kinds of popular Latin-inspired food options available in Paradise Garden dining locations including pozole, chicken mole drumettes, pescado Veracruzano, sweet tamales, torta al pastor, buñuelos and choco flan! Yummy! They also had fun crafts, face painting, and lots of traditional decorations like papel picado.
The party continues multiple times each day through January 6th, and the grand finale will be a special 3-day Dia de Reyes (Three Kings Day) celebration January 3rd through the 6th, 2014. Traditional Rosca de Reyes bread will be just one of the Holiday treats during the Dia de Reyes celebration.
