I love chocolate, perfume and flowers as much as the next gal, but I’m a modern girl, too, so why can’t I have a few other favorite, less traditional, ideas for Valentine’s Day as well? For example I love this:

Well, enough about me: The good folks at Lowe’s challenged me this month to come up with an idea for showing my beloved how much he means to me with a creative gift presentation for Valentine’s Day.

With each challenge I try to let the ideas percolate for a few days and this was no different. I thought of all kinds of things I could make for him, a nice box for storing his wallet, keys, phone and pocket change at night; a fancy new organized closet; a wall storage system in the garage; or some sort of man cave.

But the more I thought about it I realized, since we’ve been working on getting settled into a new place, we are in a more practical frame of mind this year.

For my husband, he would love a nice home-cooked Valentine’s meal, of course, but his stomach is not the only way to his heart. A well chosen set of tools is sure to make his heart go pitter-patter, too. And after all, just as you can give a man a fish and feed him for a day, or teach him to fish and feed him for a lifetime, I realized I could give him the tools so he can make his own cool stuff for years to come.

So, here is his gift:

So what do you think? Do you think he’ll like it? Nothing says I love you like a power tool! It’s a Rockwell SoniCrafter. Don’t you just love the presentation?  It’s almost as if this tool and all the extra stuff that comes with it was made for Valentine’s Day!

What about a new creative gift idea for your beloved for Valentines Day? It doesn’t have to be the usual stuff as you can see.
