So it’s time to share my new assignment as a Lowe’s Creative Ideas Network Member.  Have you seen my kids’ room makeover? How about my curb appeal makeover?  Well, now it’s time to tackle the backyard and get it summer ready, wooo hoooo, I have two months to complete the project, June and July, so far my husband has been working very hard on the sprinklers, some of them are not showing up when we turn the water on!  So basically my backyard still looks the same.  Let me show you how it looks right now.

Lots of cables from lights that used to work 10 years ago.

As you can see little grass (what there is is new!) and few plants.

Lots of pots, chairs covered in spider webs and rocks without a home.

This is my covered patio and my very neglected grass (the green parts are recently arrived).

As you can see it needs a lot of work, I’m lost! I need to choose an area and make it pretty, don’t you think? Do you have any ideas or tips? What do you think I should do?

I want to invite you to sign up for the Lowe’s Creative Ideas Magazine, it’s free! Also, check out Lowe’s at Pinterest, a great resource for ideas and pics to get you started on your own projects at home, and don’t miss the Lowe’s Creative Ideas website where you can find all kinds of great ideas.

Of course I have a giveaway today!

Win it!

Lowe’s has generously offered one (1) $100 Lowe’s Gift Card for one lucky Mama Latina Tips Reader!  How cool is that? And participating for the chance to win is easy.  You just need to leave me a comment with your tips or ideas on what I should do to make my backyard fabulous (within a budget! lets say $250-300), that’s it! That is your required entry.

I’d plant some new grass and maybe buy a patio set.

You should build a great outdoor area to cook.

A beautiful yard begins with a beautiful lawn. You need to buy several bags of grass seed and several bags of topsoil and start filling in all of the bare spots. Then fertilize and water at regular intervals. It is a long term plan, though, because grass won’t grow overnight.

The other comments have been great, don’t forget to get some inexpensive lighting so you can see at night, those solar powered lights, $4-9 are pretty good, and are easy to place no need for wiring!

I would but some grass to add some green. I’d also plant some flowers to make your backyard more colorful. Maybe some bushes along the fence.

Looks like you live in a warm climate. I am not sure how well grass would do there so I would keep the lush green grass to a minimum. I think some raise flower beds with low maintenance trees & bushes framed with pavers and a small basic cabana would help out on hot days while the kids are playing outdoors or while you were entertaining.

Have a grassy area, but also some kind of sitting area. Like others suggested, a pressure treated wood deck, or even some kind of mulchy area with some plants.
