Budget cuts in Oregon have affected every aspect of our schools. From music to class size, everything is going downhill.

If I had $50,000 to fund one program in my child’s school it would go towards literary development. I have one child who struggles with reading, and I’m not happy with the program they currently have.

My daughter and grandchildren are in college, and the most noticeable things that have happened because of budget cuts are increased tuition and closing of the Student Support Center.

I’d fund arts and music because those are the programs most typically cut when the county needs to cut budgets.

If I could give the school 50K, I’d like to see a program developing more after school options in the arts.

I would spend $50,000 on our high school marching band program. They need some new instruments and it would be great if they could travel more. My son loves marching band.

I would fund a music program. Our school’s program has been cut, and I think music is so important for kids. They learn confidence and discipline, and they are too busy to get into trouble.

Cuts have hurt our school. The most notable is the teacher aides. Each classroom use to have an aide but now the classes have to share aides. Each teacher only gets an aide for a couple of hours a day. This makes it really hard on the kindergarten and first grade teachers.
Thanks for the giveaway!

With $50,000 I would fund a field trip program so the kids could all get a chance to see and do things they might never have been able to before – trips to historical sites, hands on visits to craftsmakers, artists, museums…there are many places they could go.

If I had 50.000 for the school, I would use it to fund the arts. The focus is on sports, and music and art programs are falling by the wayside.

At my daughter’s middle school, some sports have been cut, fees have increased and the after-school activities buses have been eliminated.
