Kiwi Fruit Agua Fresca

Kiwi fruit agua fresca, or agua de kiwi, delivers a silky, refreshing, sweet and tangy taste sensation you will love. It’s perfect for quenching your thirst on hot days or for serving at mealtimes.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe kiwis**
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar or to taste
  • Ice
  • Mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Wash the kiwis very well and with a sharp knife carefully cut off the two ends of each fruit, this will help you to have a better balance when peeling it.
  • Peel them with the potato peeler, cut them into quarters and transfer them to a blender.
  • Blend them with the sugar and water until all the ingredients are well integrated.
  • I add the necessary sugar to balance with the kiwi’s natural acidity and the dilution from the water; however, you can prepare it without sugar if you prefer or use another type of sweetener.
  • Taste for sweetness and adjust if necessary. Pour into a pitcher and serve in glasses over ice.
  • In my personal opinion, it’s not necessary to strain it, the kiwi seeds are tiny and the agua fresca offers a delightful texture, but if you want a smoother drink, you can pass it through a strainer.
  • You can also play with the texture, if you want it thinner add more water, if you are looking for a classic, thicker, smoothie texture, use less water. If you want kiwi juice, just add enough water to blend the fruit. It’s up to you.
