Tender Family Moments in Yosemite

As Mother's Day approaches, I'm thinking of tender family moments. Remembering these times always makes me smile. Here is a recount of our latest family adventure in nature.

Thanks to the great folks at Ivory for making this post possible. As always my comments, opinions, and quest for tender family moments are my own.

We recently took the boys to Yosemite. They'd been asking us to take them to the snow for months. The forecast showed intermittent snow showers, a possible late season flurry of fresh powder, and the boys were itching for a real snowball fight. So we headed for the Sierras. But when we arrived, it was pretty clear new snow wasn't coming. Warmer air had blanketed the valley and it rained instead, and rained, and rained. But it's ok. Yosemite Valley still thrills in the rain.

Dramatic vistas change by the minute in a rainy Yosemite. Low clouds dance breathlessly between cliffs and waterfalls unveiling new wonders as they go. After the rains, pure, clean, cool cascades fall from most every nook and cranny, and there are lots of nooks and crannies! Look closely at the photo below. Can you see all the cascades flowing down the rock behind the trees?

I loved the rain. I guess the only thing is we got a little muddy, but that didn't worry us much. The boys found the last remnants of a snow field and still had their snowball fight, too. We hiked, built a campfire, worked on a puzzle, drank hot chocolate. But mostly we watched quietly as the rain created a hush over the valley, allowing us a few peaceful, tender, gentle moments to sit, watch and listen to nature together as a family.

By the time we left the valley, it was sunny again. We were satisfied, tired, and definitely ready for our favorite bar of 99.44% pure and clean Ivory Original Bar Soap. Ivory was our choice to wash off the well-earned dust and dirt acquired during our rainy, muddy, outdoor adventure in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We like it because it smells so pure and clean, floats like a rubber ducky in the kids' evening bath, and my youngest says it helps his bug bites. Here's to tender moments, getting dirty, and cleaning up well!
