On-Trend Gift Ideas for Moms Plus a Giveaway

Esta entrada también está disponible en: Español

My mom is so sweet. When I was growing up she never wanted anything for Mother’s Day, save for our good health and well-being. I get that. I do. I’m a mom and I want those things for my kids as well. But I want a gift to open on Mother’s Day, too! More about that in a minute.

Thanks to the wonderful crew at JCPenney for making this Mother’s Day Giveaway post possible. As always my comments, opinions, and love for opening gifts are my own.

All this Mother’s Day talk got me to thinking about my childhood. We would always go to grandma’s house on Mother’s Day. Grandma would be in the kitchen, cooking away all day, happy as a clam. I always felt a little funny that she had to work so hard on Mother’s Day. But she was happy, and I guess that’s what matters. Having said that, my brothers and I agreed that when the time came, and my mom became the grandma, we wouldn’t let her cook on Mother’s Day. Instead, we would take her out to a nice restaurant. She wouldn’t admit it, but I think she’s a little relieved.

What I Want for Mother’s Day

Fast forward to now. I hadn’t noticed before, but my husband mentioned to a friend recently how much I like to open presents. And I do! I like knowing someone loves me enough and is thoughtful enough to give me a gift, plus I like the excitement of not knowing what it is. I think all moms deserve that feeling, including me. Don’t you?

Consequently, I’m making it known right now, this is what I want for Mother’s Day.

  1. Breakfast in bed (Belgian waffles preferably) made with my new Belgian waffle maker.
  2. A nap
  3. Time with my family; and
  4. A gift, wrapped, not in a bag. I want to shake it, inspect it, listen to it, and tear the wrapping paper off of it!

Now, how about a few Mother’s Day gift ideas for the moms in your life? Even if that mom is you! Why shouldn’t you get what you want, after all?

I know what suits me and I want to keep on-trend, too. That’s why I keep a close eye on what’s out there, what’s new, and what’s interesting to me. Like all moms, I don’t have a lot of extra time to go flitting and floating all over town to shop. I like one-stop shopping. That’s why I was so pleased when JCPenney asked if I wanted to help them say “thanks” to hardworking moms this Mother’s Day.  It’s so worth stopping by their place to see the newest fashion trends and do all my shopping in one place, just in time for Mother’s Day. Oh, and did I mention I have a gift card to giveaway?! Keep reading.

Here are some ideas for the moms in your life, including you!

On-Trend Gift Ideas for Moms

Have you noticed the latest fashion trends for 2017? Here are a few of my favorites and a few examples of each from JCPenney:

Florals

Like Spring flowers they are popping up everywhere, from dresses to shoes, from purses to jewelry. Bold and colorful, they sing Spring, just check out these dresses:

Another trend for 2017, ruffles!

I really liked these jewelry sets by Mixit, they make a statement, they come in a great variety of colors and shapes and, best of all, they are very affordable.

I like this floral purse. It reminds me of those “bolsas de palma” I used to have when I was in college. I love its large size. I can even fit my big camera in it.

For something more classic, but still on-trend with whites and flowers, check out this from Liz Claiborne:

Whites

This year I’ve seen lots of flowers and bold colors, but also lots of whites, which make for a nice contrast.

Like these bracelets or…

… these shoes. I just had to buy these sandals by Arizona because they are so very comfortable, plus the big platform gives me a bit of height (which I really need). Also, they go great with a lot of pieces in my wardrobe.

Large Metallic Accessories

You can never go wrong with metallic. Gold or silver, with our without color, it’s your choice.

I like dangling earrings, just check these Monet® I got a few weeks ago:

These two also caught my attention. The Blue ones are from Monet® and the golden ones are from Bleu NYW.

If you are a Disney mom, like me, you may like these Disney beauties:

Boxed Sets

Now if any of the moms in your life like to be pampered, a beauty set may be something they would like. Check out these sets at Sephora inside JCPenney.
