Disneyland Diamond Anniversary Celebrates with Three New Shows

The Disneyland Diamond Anniversary celebration now includes three new shows and I had a chance to watch them all. Each is magical in its own way and full of surprises. My personal favorite, the Paint the Night Parade, features millions of lights and plenty of festive music. Here are the details:

The Three New Shows of the Disneyland Diamond Anniversary

These three new shows have two things in common, they are nocturnal and each honors both Walt Disney and the parks in some way. If you are planning a visit to the parks this summer or fall, please add them to your list. Two of them take place at Disneyland Park and one takes place at Disney California Adventure.

World of Color: Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney

In this new World of Color presentation entitled, Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney, at Disney California Adventure Park, Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse take you through Walt’s incredible journey, from his earliest movies and cartoons through the creation of Disneyland and beyond.

The journey includes classic favorites like Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs as well as new classics like Frozen and Star Wars. But not only that, you’ll hear Walt’s own voice welcoming visitors to the park on inauguration day. It’s all immersed in music, fire, laser effects and glorious fountains of water.

A few tips:

  • Get your FASTPASS as soon as you get to the park.
  • The closer you are to the water the more soaked you will get
  • You can see the shows from almost every place on Paradise Pier
  • Don’t forget your “Glow with the Show” Mickey ears.

Paint the Night Parade

The Paint the Night Parade is amazing! More than one million lights, dramatic music, and your favorite characters come together in a spectacular show. See Tinker Bell, Peter Pan, Ariel, Belle, Rapunzel, Ana, Elsa, Olaf, Woody, Buzz, Mike, Sully and, of course, Mickey and Minnie among many others.

Lights glow from the parade floats, but also on performers’ costumes. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before so it’s a must-see.

Tips:

  • Any place along Main Street, U.S.A. is a good place to watch it, but find out which direction it is coming from and head that way. Doing this will give you a head start toward other attractions once the parade has passed by.
  • Have both camera and video ready, because you’ll want both.
  • Take your pictures and a small video, but most of all enjoy, remember to enjoy it with your own eyes, too.

Disneyland Forever Fireworks

This Disneyland Forever Fireworks spectacular takes you from the inauguration of Disneyland, to under the sea with the Little Mermaid, to the roofs of Mary Poppins, to snow with Elsa and Anna. The beauty of this show is how it integrates music, animation, lights and special effects.

Expect things to happen all around you, in the castle, on Main Street, the roofs, and even on the Matterhorn. And don’t be surprised if “snow” starts falling on your head.

Tips:

  • Any place in the park is a good place to see it, each spot provides a different experience.
  • For seeing the Matterhorn and castle, get closer to the roundabout in front of the Castle.
  • For seeing the Main Street, U.S.A. buildings and roofs, stay back toward the roundabout at the entrance to the park.
