This is part of a sponsored campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Nestlé Pure Life, however all opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission Guidelines, 16 C.F.R Part 255.

The dog days of summer are definitely here. It was well over 100 degrees just over the hill from us yesterday, and everyone is looking a little droopy. It’s hot! No question about it.

The USDA’s Choose My says be sure to have water available when your child is playing outdoors or doing other physical activity.

And registered dietician and nutritionist, Sylvia Meléndez Klinger, says, “It’s important that children drink water throughout the summer because drinking water is vital for the body to function effectively and for preventing dehydration. Water has even more importance for children during the summer months when they are playing more outdoors and the weather is hotter and more humid. Dehydration can cause them to become dizzy and disoriented.”

But how do we get them to drink water? I don’t know about you, but sometimes my kids resist a little.

Sylvia Meléndez Klinger, the registered dietician and nutritionist, suggests, “If your children don’t want to drink water, the best motivation is the example you give them. If they see you drinking water, they are certainly going to follow your example. Always carry bottles of water, and offer them water. Have bottles of water available and visible. Pack small bottles of cold water for every outdoor activity-games, playgrounds, etc.”

Also, maybe they would like to be rewarded? As part of the Nestlé® Pure Life® brand’s ongoing efforts to encourage families to live healthier lives, the “Drink Better. Live Better™” Rewards Program offers exciting rewards, including Nestlé® Pure Life® coupons, kids’ sports equipment, backpacks, gift cards, theme park tickets and more. Check it out.

However you get them to do it, make sure to keep the kids hydrated this summer with plenty of water before, during, and after physical activity and throughout these dog days of summer!

I thought this video was very cute, my kids liked it also. I enjoyed hour the little girl was stating facts to her dog and that Nestle Pure life was the solution. Cute video!
