Organizing my Trunk

Thanks to the great folks at Ziploc® for sponsoring this post. As always, my comments, opinions, and clutter are my own.

Spring is finally here! Can you believe it? It seemed a particularly long time coming this year, didn’t it? But I’ve been watching the birds and they’ve been flying around with sticks hanging out of their beaks for weeks now. It’s definitely spring, and the birds are so organized and together, I think they’ve inspired me!

I shared last month how I’ve been working with Ziploc® on some small challenges to encourage a healthier lifestyle. Today’s challenge is to get a little bit more organized while freshening up my place with some spring cleaning.

I feel so much more relaxed and on top of things when the spaces I live in are neat and organized, and that’s got to be healthier. But, and I can’t emphasize this enough, this is definitely a challenge for me! I’m taking baby steps. So I decided to tackle two intentionally overlooked trouble spots. Can you guess where?

The first is the car. Probably enough said, right? Well, let me add just this: beach, tennis, golf, baseball, scouts, scooters, and music lessons, not to mention reusable grocery bags.

We live close to the beach and we like to have a change of clothes for the kids in the car, but since there’s no specific space for them, it always ends up looking like this. Until now!

I used this Ziploc® Brand Flexible Tote to keep two changes of clothes, two sweaters, two hats, two swimming suits and two towels for the kids!

Here’s the tote from the side, I wanted you to see the vent.

I also put all the sports equipment in one Ziploc® Brand Big Bag, which is great because I don’t have to mine a hill of clothes and equipment when I need a baseball glove.

The next area I conquered was the corner of the living room where my husband was building up quite a collection of materials for the youth organization he leads. He had craft paper, rope, binders, markers, materials for neckerchief slides, wooden cars, model rockets, manuals, songbooks, and, needless to say, much, much, more.

He now has one Ziploc® Brand Big Bag for meetings with the boys and a separate one for meetings with leadership.
I can’t believe how much more peaceful I feel after scaling those two clutter mountains!

Here’s the trunk now, we have plenty of space and I can see everything I have and everything I need. What do you think?

Would you like to tackle some overlooked spaces in your house as well? Check out some more ideas on the Ziploc® brand Facebook page or on their Pinterest page and let me know how it goes.

Small changes can make a big difference.

To a fresh, new spring!
