This article made possible by a collaboration between Latina Bloggers Connect and Pier 1 Imports. As always, all comments, opinions, and love for the sea are my own.

I’m revealing my new outdoor oasis today and I'm thrilled about that. (I'll also tell you about a fantastic giveaway at the end of this post, which is thrilling, too.) I've mentioned before how we live near the beach and love being out in the fresh air. With summer just around the corner, we're sure to have family and friends visiting soon, but we weren't feeling quite ready. Until now!

My canvas?

Our garden, which includes a picnic table and a rather tired old chair. It's the perfect space to transform.

My inspiration?

The bay, the sunset, submerged colors, I love the idea of bringing the sea right up to my home.

Some people are afraid to make a statement outside because, well, it’s outside. I get that, I really do. But I say, be bold and stick your toes out a little beyond your comfort zone. Come on in, the water's fine. Anything goes!

For instance, I love how this table runner from Pier 1 Imports contrasts with that old table, and how it incorporates the reds, oranges and yellows of a Pacific sunset. But also it has the submerged blues and greens of the ocean. It's the perfect start.

I think an outdoor oasis allows for more mixing and matching with colors and patterns. I like how you can personalize your space with special accents, such as outdoor artwork, planters, lanterns and more. Combinations of accessories can really transform an outdoor space from simple to fabulous!

I love this sea blue lantern. It was one of my inspirations and I was so happy to find it at my local Pier 1 Imports.

Mixing and matching these place settings with submerged colors – yellow, deep-sea blue, and light green- really imparts that coastal feel.

Pier 1 Imports’ outdoor dinnerware and, in this case, drinkware is pretty enough for indoors, but sturdy enough for outdoors. This shimmering set fits my coastal outdoor oasis theme perfectly.

This sea green trimmed basket ties in perfectly with my table and the submerged colors theme.

Just a few small changes can really transform a space, right?

And how about that old chair? A few well-placed nails, some white paint, and a dazzling coral and turquoise seat pillow and the transformation is total. I love the cobalt blue pitcher and glasses. They have always been favorites of mine since childhood and I was thrilled to find them at Pier 1.

It's more bold and festive now, don't you think?

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the two friendly associates who helped me to see, touch, and feel everything for myself at our local Pier 1 Imports. I loved tossing around ideas on-the-fly and so did they! Thanks!
