First Communions in Mexico are grand. I come from a Catholic family and sacraments are always a reason to celebrate. So my nine year old’s first communion was just that, a grand celebration. We were so happy to be in Mexico for this special event and listening to him recite his prayers in Spanish melted my heart.
First communions in this part of Mexico are a 3-day affair. First, on Thursday, we had the “Ceremonia de la Luz” (Ceremony of the Light) where the white garments, candles, bibles, rosaries and crosses the children wear at the church are blessed. Then Friday was “Día del Perdón” (Day of Forgiveness), where the children, parents, and godparents go to the church for confession. And of course Saturday, well, Saturday was the big day! We had family come from as far as San Francisco, CA and San Antonio Texas, not to mention the many other family members who came from cities all over Mexico.
We loved having so much family together and my son looked very handsome all in white. But enough talk, let me show you the story:
I used the Disney Story app to create it. Disney Story is a storytelling app that helps you quickly and intuitively turn your personal moments into stories to remember and cherish. Just add text for context, captions, and pick the design theme that fits your story best. It also makes it easy for you to share your stories quickly on Facebook and through email. With just a few taps you are ready to publish.
And here’s the best part:
