Wow! 8 pounds and counting!!
Back on July 31, I mentioned I had lost 5 pounds in the first 11 days of my Slim Fast Summer Slim-Down Challenge. It’s 26 days later and I am pleased to report 3 more pounds shedded. Obviously my rate of loss has slowed, but, and I’m not just being brave here, I am genuinely pleased. In fact, I think it’s better this way. Losing 5 pounds in the initial 11 days, while exciting, probably was neither a realistic nor maybe even a healthy rate to have continued losing weight. For me 3-4 pounds a month seems great, even painless.
I faced August a little fearful. I had many special events on tap, all of which promised and delivered amazing fare, including the mega-blogger conference BlogHer 12 in New York City, a trip to Cancun, and a visit to Disney Studios.
At BlogHer ’12, there were tempting treats everywhere.
At the Azul Beach Hotel, near Cancun, Mexico, the food was spectacular, like this dish called Black Cod Talla style 2012, and my favorite beverage, the Sparkling Cucumber Cocktail.
At the Disney Studios event, we enjoyed a lovely meal at the Gordon Ramsay at the LondonWest Hollywood including this salad.
The encouraging thing is I didn’t have to resist really any temptation; in fact, I planned on partaking and partook at all these special events, how could I not really? I just kept my choices sensible and stayed as close to the 3-2-1 plan as possible, and I still lost 3 pounds when all was said and done.
If I learned anything this month, it was I don’t have to deny myself. In fact, I wonder if allowing myself a little cheating helped me some.
By the end of August, I think it will be another pound and that will make a pound a week. It might not sound like much, but in a year that adds up to nearly 50 pounds. Speaking of the end of August, don’t miss the fantastic giveaway I’ll announce here on Friday!
