Jackie Warner, fitness advisor to stars like Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Maria Shriver, and America Ferrera, just to name a few, has written a new book, “Jackie Warner’s 10 Pounds in 10 Days: The Secret Celebrity Program for Losing Weight Fast.” Jackie often finds herself called upon to help stars lose weight fast in order to fit into their red carpet couture. She writes, “Celebrities are unique because losing weight post-baby or getting red-carpet-ready becomes a national media event.” So first, she reveals the plan she uses for helping celebrities with a balanced, nutritious, 10-day program to lose weight fast. But what happens after 10 days?
Jackie includes nutritious menu suggestions for longer, more sustainable programs as well, with suggestions for the next 10 days and the 10 days after that. A key theme of her book is that many women lose motivation if they don’t see some visible results right away when dieting. So the “10 pounds in 10 days” program can be used at the beginning of a more sustainable program to help provide visible results for motivation up front, followed by a longer term, less restrictive weight loss program in the days following.
Ok, so I thought I should try it and today is my 10th day. I’ll tell you right now I did not follow the exercises, which of course are a very important part of the program. They look excellent, but my schedule just didn’t allow it this month. And I really cheated on one day of the diet, St Patrick’s Day. But even after all of that I still have lost 4 pounds, which I think is pretty good considering my partial non-compliance and failure to exercise at all, don’t you think? Jackie points out that the exercises are important because they build muscle mass which helps in losing weight in the long run.
