Happy Birthday!

A few days ago my older son turned 7, I just cannot believe how fast he’s grown.  I still remember holding him in my arms for the first time.  He is a vibrant, energetic, happy and funny boy.  He, like his mom, loves parties, spending time with friends, and dancing.

We had a little party, it is always easy to plan his birthday because April’s weather is always great here, which gives us the option of having a party outdoors.   The Saturday we chose to do the party was warm with a light breeze, in other words, perfect!  We just had to contend with a couple of gusts of wind, as you can see in this picture:

This was a very easy party to plan, we had snacks including  cheese, pretzels, popcorn, fruit, chips, and even my husband made some pizza and focaccia bread!

The day was warm enough to try a water balloon fight, which the kids thought was the coolest thing!  I brought some chalk for sidewalk drawings, but the best part about a party at a public park is the playground!  The kids had a blast swinging, climbing, running, and, specially for my little one, going down the slide over and over and over again.

I baked some cupcakes, my son chose the chocolate frosting, and he even helped me to add the sprinkles on top, he was so proud of his creations:

Finally we ended the parties with these very cute favor bags, which contained bouncy balls, and “lighting” yo-yo’s from the new Target party line Spritz.

Planning a party can be expensive, but thanks to the public parks in my city and the affordable and cute spritz line I was right on budget, not to mention I got to shop at Target! I love Target!  And did you see how I matched the cupcakes with the plates and bags?

How about you? Do you celebrate a birthday party for your children every year? Aren’t the spritz products cute?

Disclosure:  I received a box with several spritz products to help me celebrate my son’s birthday party, thanks Target!.  The opinions expressed in this article are solely my own.
