My family and I enjoyed our day at LeaLA (read about the event here), it continues through tomorrow, Sunday, May 1st. Here are some of the highlights from today:
Listening to Natalia Toledo read her bilingual (Spanish-Zapoteca) book, “Cuento del Conejo y el Coyote – Didxaguca’ sti’ Lexu ne Gueu’ (Tale of the Rabbit and the Coyote).”
Getting lost in mounds of Spanish language books.

Watching “A la Deriva Teatro” (Drifting Theater Company) from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, performing “Romeo and Juliet for children,” a witty, funny, and creative production using just three actors – Abelardo Ferré, Gabriel Alvarez, and Susana Romo (see their photo below)- Director Fausto Ramirez presents a whole new take on Shakespeare’s classic (in Spanish). My kids smiled the whole time, even at the end! Watch a sneak peek at the end of this post.
