Cuando estaba embarazada de mi primer hijo, recuerdo que escribí una lista de las cosas que necesitaba comprar antes la llegada de mi bebé. Leí un montón de libros y visité Babies R Us constantemente. Para los que viven fuera de Los Estados Unidos, les cuento que esta tienda es un gran almacén donde sólo venden cosas de bebés y niños, ¡es impresionante!. Bueno, una de las cosas en mi lista era un monitor para bebé y creéme si te digo que comprar un monitor para bebé fue una de las mejores compras que hayamos hecho. Lo usamos constantemente y lo llevamos a dondequiera que viajábamos. El monitor nos dió tranquilildad y cierta libertad, de por ejemplo estar en el jardín trasero, sabiendo que oiría a mi bebé si estaba llorando o incómodo.
Mi hijo menor tiene 3 años y todavía duerme en su cuna en su propio cuarto y todavía usamos un monitor de bebé, así que cuando Graco me preguntó si me gustaría dar mi opinión sobre el nuevo monitor digital Secure Coverage, inmediatamente dije “si.” Que gran oportunidad de deshacerme del viejito, ¿no creés?
Lo primero que noté es lo liviano de este monitor, mi monitor anterior era difícil de cargar en mis bolsas porque era ¡pesado y grande! El monitor Secure Coverage cabe en la bolsa de mi pantalón y aún en la bolsa de la camisa de mi esposo, y además viene con un clip para colgártelo del cinturón si así lo deseas.
La segunda cosa que me encantó, es que viene con ¡baterías recargables! He estado usando el monitor por mas de dos semanas y he contado las horas que la unidad para padres dura después de cargarlo, ¡15 horas! el monitor tiene una alarma que me avisa cuando cargarlo de nuevo, mientras la luz cambia de verde a rojo, que padre ¿no? En cuando a la unidad del cuarto del niño, viene con un cable para conectarlo, pero también puedes insertar un par de pilas AAA para tu mayor tranquilidad, en caso de que te quedes sin luz en tu casa por alguna razón, por ejemplo.
Es importante aclarar que necesitas insertar las baterías recargables en el monitor y dejarlo cargar por 16 horas antes de usarlo.
Secure Coverage tiene además un modo de vibración. ¡Esto es algo nuevo para mi! Ahora puedo poner el volumen en bajo y la vibración en alto y sabré exactamente cuando mi hijo esta llorando. Tu puedes prender o apagar esta función con sólo apretar un botón. Otra cosa que note es que este monitor es sumamente sensible, puedo escuchar todo muy claramente.
Por último te comento que viene con dos unidades para padres, una unidad para el cuarto del niño y su libro de instrucciones en español e inglés. Cuesta aproximadamente $65 dólares, lo cual puede o no parecerte un poco caro, sin embargo, recuerda que ¡no tendrás que cambiar pilas en mucho tiempo!
La tecnología de monitores definitivamente ha avanzado desde que tuve mi primer hijo hace mas de 6 años. Me encantó este nuevo monitor de Graco y lo recomendaría para cualquier padre o madre o abuelos con bebés en casa.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I wrote a list of all the things I needed to buy to get ready for the baby. I read a bunch of books and visited Babies R Us constantly. One item on that list was a baby monitor. Our baby monitor was one of our best purchases and we took it wherever we went. It gave us piece of mind and a certain freedom, to be in the garden for example, knowing we would hear him if he were crying or feeling uncomfortable.
My 3 year old still sleeps in his crib in his own room and I still use a baby monitor, so when Graco asked me if I would like to review the new Secure Coverage digital baby monitor, I immediately said, “yes,” what a great opportunity to get rid of the old one, don’t you think?
The first thing I noticed is how light the new one is, I couldn’t put my first baby monitor in my pocket because it was too heavy and too big! The Secure Coverage monitor fits great in my pants pocket and even in my husband’s shirt pocket and also comes with a belt clip.
The second great thing is it comes with rechargeable batteries! I love this! I’ve been using the monitor for more than two weeks now and I have counted the hours the parent unit has lasted on battery power, 15 hours! The monitor has an alarm to remind you to charge it again, in addition to turning the light from green to red. How cool is that? Regarding the children’s unit, it comes with a cable to plug it in, however you can also insert a couple of AAA’s batteries for added peace of mind in case your home power goes out.
An important note: you will need to insert the rechargeable batteries into the monitor and let it charge for 16 hours previous to the first use.
The Secure Coverage also has a vibration mode! This is something new to me! Now, I can have the volume low and the vibration set to medium and I know when my child is crying. You can turn this mode on and off with the touch of a button. Also, I’ve noticed the monitor is extremely sensitive, so I can hear everything very clearly.
Finally it comes with two parent’s units, one child unit, and an instruction booklet in English and Spanish. It costs about $65, which may or may not seem pricey to you, however, remember you won’t be buying batteries for a while!
Monitor technology definitely has changed since I had my first child more than 6 years ago. I really like this new Graco monitor, and I would recommended it to any parent or grandparent with a baby at home.
