Yo creo que usar un humectante con protección solar es una buena idea. I think it sounds wonderful, don’t you? During a Neutrogena event I participated in a few months ago, Dr. Tanya Kormeili, a board certified dermatologist, addressed the importance of protecting our skin from the sun. I think having SPF in a daily moisturizer is a great idea. For me it’s the way to go, since I don’t put make-up on every day and I sometimes forget my sunblock. But I do use moisturizer every day. Un Play Yard con Color! Joovy The Room

¡Cómo hubiera deseado que este corralito hubiera estado en venta hace 8 años cuando tuve mi primer hijo! bueno The Room no es sólo un corralito, sino también un Moisés, un organizador y una estación para cambio de pañal!

El corralito que tuve hace ocho años cumplía con su función, pero no era precisamente lo que se puede decir lindo, y la bolsa donde venía no era muy cómoda, los tubos siempre se salían cuando abría la bolsa y la mesita de cambio de pañal era medio inestable, además no tenía organizador, era simplemente, bueno, un corralito con moisés.

Dos cosas me llamaron la atención inmediatamente el color y el diseño moderno de Joovy Room. Es muy lindo, chic, y se ve cómodo. Si andas buscando en estos momentos un moisés/corralito/mesa de cambio de pañal, bueno te cuento sobre este y por que me gusta tanto.

Primero, viene con una bolsa a la que le cabe todo, a excepción de la mesa de cambio de pañal. Ser portátil es uno de los muchos beneficios de Room. Cuando mis hijos eran bebés, viajábamos con nuestro moisés constantemente, esto me gustaba porque me daba la tranquilidad de saber que mis bebés dormirían en su cama, un lugar seguro para ellos. Esta bolsa portátil te permite llevártelo a todos lados.

Otra cosa muy buena, es que la bolsa tiene dos compartimientos, en uno pones el corralito y en la otra van los tubos que sostienen el moisés y el organizador, de esta forma todo está en su lugar, ha! también me cupo la sábana que viene incluida cuando lo compras.

Como puedes ver, las instrucciones de armado están dibujadas directamente en la parte baja del colchoncito. Tu no las necesitarás después de haber armado el corralito una vez, ya que es muy fácil hacerlo, pero es conveniente tenerlas en caso de que otras personas tengan que armarlo y tu no estés.

También tiene un lugar especial para poner el manual de instrucciones. Yo normalmente tengo los manuales en una caja en mi oficina, pero con el Joovy Room lo tienes todo junto.

El colchoncito tiene 8 cintas de velcro, las cuales pasan a través de la tela en la parte inferior del corralito y hacen que el colchoncito se quede firme en su lugar.

¿Qué opinas del organizador? Como te lo dije anteriormente, como me hubiera gustado que Room hubiera estado a la venta hace ocho años! El organizador se instala perfectamente en uno de los lados del corralito y tiene el espacio suficiente para poner lo que necesitas para atender a tu bebé. Siempre es importante tener las cosas a la mano mientras observas a tu bebé, con Room sólo tienes que extender la mano y agarrar lo que necesitas.

Y checa este detalle, puedes conectar tu iPod y poner música para tu bebé, y también tiene un botón que te permite poner una luz tenue en la noche.

La mesita para cambio de pañal, viene con su propio organizador también, tiene el tamaño perfecto para poner tus pañales, toallitas, crema de rozaduras y otras cosas que necesites.

Algo que me encantó es que la mesita viene con estos ganchos que se atoran firmemente al cuerpo del corralito lo que la mantiene firmemente instalada.

Y así es como luce cuando pones el moisés.

El armado es fácil, a mi me tomó 15 minutos la primera vez, pero estoy segura que será mas rápido la próxima vez que lo haga, quizá sólo me tome 10 minutos. Te invito a que veas mas detalles y colores aquí.

¿A poco no es un artículo hermoso? en mi opinión contar con un corralito o play yard es de gran beneficio y si además luce tan chic como The Room, bueno ¿qué mas podemos pedir?

Color and Comfort, the Joovy Room Play Yard

I wish I’d had this play yard 8 years ago when I had my first baby, because it’s not just a play yard, it’s a bassinet, a changing station, and an organizer, too!

Eight years ago, the play yard I had was useful, but it wasn’t beautiful, the tubes were always sliding out when I tried to pack it, the changing table was always in danger of falling off, and there was no organizer.

The two things that caught my attention first were the Joovy Room’s vibrant color and modern design. The play yard is beautiful, even stylish, and it is comfortable. If you are looking for a great, portable bassinet/play yard/changing table, let me show you why I like this one so much.

First, it comes with a great bag which carries everything but the changing table. Portability is one of the Room’s many great features. When my babies were little, we traveled with our play yard constantly, we knew our babies would sleep great in it no matter where we were as if in their own bed. The Room is easy to take with you, too, but it also comes with many great features my old one didn’t.

Another great feature of its bag is it has a separate compartment for the organizer and bassinet tubes, so everything has its place in the bag. I was able to fit the sheets here as well.

As you can see, the instructions are right there on the mattress. You won’t need them often because it is very easy to set up, but it is convenient for quick reference or in case others need to set it up.

There’s a place for the instruction manual, too. Usually, I have my manuals for everything in an office cabinet, but with the Joovy Room, the manual is conveniently nearby.

The mattress has 8 velcro straps which pass through the fabric and attach to the bottom of the play yard, helping keep the mattress in place.

And don’t you love the organizer? I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, I wish, I just wish I’d had the Room 8 years ago. The organizer fits perfectly and can hold everything you need to take care of your baby. It is always better to have what you need handy when you have a little one. With the Room, you just need to extend your hand and grab it!

And check out this great feature, you can plug in your iPod and play music for your baby! It also has a night light.

The changing table comes with its own organizer perfect for diapers, wipes, diaper rash ointment, and other necessities.

Here is something I really appreciate, the changing table snugly attaches to the body of the play yard.

And this is how it looks with the bassinet in place.

The set up is easy. I did it in just 15 minutes from start to finish the first time. But it will be faster now that I’ve done it, probably about 10 minutes. I invite you to check out all the features and colors here.

Isn’t it a beautiful and convenient multi-purpose play yard? In my opinion, a play yard is a great benefit when you have a baby, and if it looks and works as beautifully as The Room, well, that’s icing on the cake.

Te presento a Myrta Balan

Myrta es la primera mujer artesana de Croix des Bouquets (una pequeña población de artesanos de metal cerca de Port-au-Prince, Haiti). Su inspiración viene del Arbol de la Vida que simboliza la bondad y abundancia del universo.

Ella es una de las orgullosas artesanas de Hearth of Haiti. No se si lo sepas, pero te cuento, Heart of Haiti es una iniciativa lanzada por Willa Shalit, artista y emprearia, Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund y Macy’s, esta iniciativa es de tipo “Trade. No Aid” lo que significa, que ayuda no dando caridad, sino ayudando a las personas a establecer su propia forma de subsitencia. A la fecha Heart of Haiti ha conformado empleo para 750 artesanos Haitianos, lo que ha beneficiado a un estimado de 8,500 personas en ese país.

Todos recordamos el terremoto que causó devastación en Haiti hace un par de años. A pesar de este temblor y de vivir en el país mas pobre del hemisferio occidental, los Haitianos están llenos de esperanza y deseos de mejorar sus vidas. Heart of Haiti brinda a los artesanos Hatianos una forma para subsistir, alimentar a su familia y pagar por la escuela de sus hijos, las cuales no son gratis en Haiti.

Comprando las bellas piezas que estos artesanos producen es una manera de apoyar esta iniciativa. La colección está compuesta de mas de 40 productos de diferentes tipos, como joyería, pinturas, cerámica, trabajo en metal y colchas. Todos hechos a mano y usando materiales reciclados, o naturales, como roca, hierro, papel y otros metales. Estos productos están a la venta en línea en Macy’s, con precios entre los $25 y $60 dólares.

Myrta is the first woman metal artisan in Croix des Bouquets (a village of metal artisans near Port-au-Prince, Haiti). Her inspiration comes from the Tree of Life which symbolizes the goodness and bounty of the universe.

She is a proud artisan of Heart of Haiti. As you may or may not already know, Heart of Haiti is a “Trade, Not Aid” initiative launched by artist and social entrepreneur, Willa Shalit, The Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund, and Macy’s. Already, Heart of Haiti has led to the employment of 750 artists in Haiti, providing financial benefits for an estimated 8,500 people in the country.

We all remember the devastating earthquake that destroyed both families and material things in Haiti in 2010. Despite the earthquake and living in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, Haitians are filled with hope and desire to improve their lives. Heart of Haiti brings opportunities to artisans to make a living, feed their families, and pay for their children’s school, since schools in Haiti are not free.

Supporting the artisans by buying their beautiful pieces is a way to support this initiative. The collection features more than 40 items including jewelry, paintings, metalwork, ceramics and quilts, all made by hand, using recycled, sustainable, or raw materials such as cardboard, oil drums, wrought iron, and stone, among others. New Dollar General Stores in California-Giveaway

Have you heard of Dollar General? Who knew they had more than 10,000 stores in 39 states and counting. I didn’t. Just this year alone they will be opening approximately 50 new stores in California.

Last week I went to check it out to satisfy my curiosity and see what they have. Before my trip, as I always do before my shopping trips, I looked for offers and coupons. I was happy to see Dollar General offers different ways to get even more for your money through specials, deals, and coupons. I immediately signed up for DG text alerts, which was easy! I just texted JOIN to DGTXT and I was set, I started getting messages for coupons right away on my phone. You can also sign up through email or DG’s Facebook Page.

But enough talking, let me show you a few pics from my shopping experience:

Here is the first thing I saw and it brought lots of memories from México! I love Marinela products!

Then I saw my favorite Hunt’s Tomato Sauce. Did you see the 65 cent tomato paste, too?!! Wow!

Check this out! There is a Dollar aisle.

Then I found this clearance aisle with great prices.

As you can see, Dollar General has more than food. Getting ready for grilling season?

I couldn’t believe they had these bags! I was actually looking for affordable storage bags like these, so I got some.

What? Food, grilling equipment, storage bags, and shoes? Yep, they also have shoes.

Here is what I got, my kids were a little sad I didn’t take them shopping with me, but they were happy when they saw their favorite ice cream…mint chocolate chip!
