If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know I enjoy throwing parties. No matter what the size or type, from large family celebrations, to small get-togethers with my closest friends, I enjoy spending time with the ones I love, sharing memories, making new ones, and catching up.
I especially enjoy planning parties, from deciding where to have them, to the food I’ll serve, to searching for inspiration to get my party-throwing creativity flowing.
Many times my friends and I get together spontaneously, like when we top by for a cup of coffee after dropping the kids off at school. But sometimes it’s fun to find something to be inspired by and let that be my guide in planning a creative party. That’s the type I’m talking about today.
For weeks, some friends and I have been talking about getting together and doing something different and fun, and thanks to this work with Mama Latina Tips, we finally had the opportunity.
That’s why I want to share a little of the fun we had as well as a few tips on how to get inspired to do something different, too. Then, I’ll share a craft tutorial, and finally show you a few of the delicious dishes I was inspired to serve at my party.
Tips for Finding Inspiration for a Party
Tip #1 Look everywhere for inspiration:
Inspiration can come from anywhere, a candle, a flower, a word, a scent, a color, just about anything. My inspiration came from a new Glade® Radiant Berries™ candle. I love candles and I’ve yet to meet a friend who didn’t.
Tip #2 Identify the feelings and ideas your inspiration ignites:
What feelings or ideas do you have when you look or think about your inspiration? Romantic? Bold? Loving and playful? Use these to help you determine what your party will be like. Will it be bright and joyful, or colorful and lively, or musical?
Two things that got my creativity flowing were my candle’s lovely aromas, with hints of fruit, and its color. The color red, in all its hues, has always worked well for me personally, it makes me feel cheerful, happy, and full of energy and passion for life.
Tip #3 Let your inspiration influence your decor, your menu and your activities:
It’s all part of the fun! Think about your inspiration when getting your creativity flowing. For my party, I decided to let my candle’s aroma help me choose the menu, while letting its color determine the activity.

Putting It All Together
When I told my girlfriends about my plans for the party they smiled and went all-in with me! They were fans of the color red, too, and we all like to sparkle a little, so deciding to make jewelry was just right for us. We all love bright colors, yet it was lovely to see how each of us still created something different to suit our own personalities.
Here’s a step by step guide for making the bracelet you see in the photo above.
How to Make a Fashion Jewelry Bracelet with Wire
- Beads in red
- Silver connectors
- Jewelry wire
- Clasp and ring
- Wire cutters
- Flat nose pliers
Organize your beads and silver connectors to create the design you want.
Take the tip of the wire and begin inserting the beads according to your design. When you are done, insert the wire through a crimp, and then through a ring. Next, take the tip of the wire again and insert it back through the crimp in the other direction to create a closed loop. See photo below.
Take the flat nose pliers and squeeze the crimp tightly to secure it. Insert excess wire into the beads.
Take the other end of your bracelet, leave two extra inches of wire and cut the wire. Now, insert the new cut wire end through another crimp, then through a clasp, and back again through the crimp to complete the loop (see photo). Lastly, using the flat nose pliers again to squeeze the crimp tightly to secure it. Show off your bright and bold creation!
The inspiration for this party menu were the candle’s red color and its fruity aromas like subtle hints of raspberries, watermelon, and grapefruit.
First we had cheese entomatadas, a red delicious combination of tortillas, cotija cheese, and a chipotle chile sauce.
Then we had a refreshing Mexican Watermelon Cooler. Get the recipe here.
And for dessert, we enjoyed colorful raspberry, blueberry, strawberry and yogurt parfaits!
What do you think? How about creating your own party? Would you liked to do something similar for your inspiration, here are a few hints, tips and details.
I bought the candle at Target, where there’s always a good selection. For more inspiration check out the Glade® social hub here, and the Glade® Facebook page in Spanish, Glade® en español, here.
