Bread Fridays: Swan

Swan

Isn't it beautiful? Elegant! Just like its real world inspiration.

This is another enchanting creation by one of the bakers from the town I grew up in Mexico. They are called swans and they are almost too beautiful to eat, but that would be a mistake, because you would be missing out on something wonderful. Powdered sugar, cream on the inside, even a touch of chocolate on top, these light and airy treats often accompany a special occasion. The bread part is not overly sweet so they have a nice balance, too. Kids go gaga for them.

If you would like to see other tantalizing creations, check out the other breads in this series at estropajos, cacahuates, bolillos, orejas, libros, conchas, soles, chinos, pay de queso, roscas chinas, puerquitos, huacales, ojos,  niños and ratoncitos.

Have a yummy Friday!
