Bringing the Beach Home

This article made possible by a collaboration between Latina Bloggers Connect and Pier 1 Imports. As always, all comments, opinions, and love for the sea are my own.

Two things I really like about the place we live is the view and the climate. It is almost always very mild during the day and cool at night. With such warm, beautiful days, we like to sit in our garden where we can see all the plants, trees, and the bay. And we like to listen to the birds singing and the sound of the surf. I always feel so happy when I can see and hear the sea.

We have a picnic table in the garden but we don't use it as much as we should. I think that's in part because I feel like it's missing something. So, when Pier 1 and Latina Bloggers Connect challenged me to do something with my outdoor space, I jumped at the chance, because this is exactly what I needed.

Inspiration

The first thing I did was check out Pier 1's Pinterest page, where I found many beautiful things. In fact, seeing so many beautiful things caused me to take a step back and ask myself, “what exactly is my inspiration?”  “How do I see myself when I'm in my yard?” My answer was “I want to be relaxed, happy, bathed in both the colors of the sea, like the blues of a fresh, clear morning, and the colors of the evening sunset, the oranges and the yellows. Living near the beach isn't sufficient for me, I want to bring the beach to my house.

With that in mind, I was ready to focus more, and these are some of the photos I discovered that inspired me:

White outdoors sitting with orange and turquoise pillows

Don't you just want to sit and have an agua fresca?

Turquoise and orange have always been favorite colors of mine. I think this combination of furniture, pillows, and accessories are both vibrant and calming at the same time. With a space like this we would be sure to have constant fresh air fiestas.

Glass lantern - Pier 1

Candles have always fascinated me, their soft light is calming and romantic. I think this glass lantern is spectacular. I can imagine just how it would look in my garden right at sunset as it illuminates the yard.

As soon as I saw this photo I remembered this project's most important elements are my family and friends who will be enjoying the get-togethers and parties with me. I think a beautiful ambiance is the first step to an enjoyable time. Pier 1 is helping me design an oasis in my garden that my loved ones will enjoy both this summer and beyond.

So what do you think? Wouldn't you like to see some small changes in your garden or back patio? It's not important if it's new furniture, or different pillows, dream a little. I invite you to go through the same exercise I did, check out pinterest, and look at the page I did where various bloggers have shared their inspirations. Its called Outdoor Oasis. Afterward, why not stop by Pier 1 to see all the beautiful things they have for yourself, so you can touch them and imagine how you would like to see your outdoor space. Or check out Pier 1 on the web to purchase the things you want and pick them up in the store or have them delivered to your house.

I took these photos as inspiration when I went to the store to buy things to create the environment I wanted in our garden. I will show you how it turned out in a few days. I invite you to come back and see it and participate for your chance to win a giveaway for a gift card from Pier 1 imports.

¡Aquí te espero!

I look forward to seeing you here!
