This week the Premio Lo Nuestro Award Show will broadcast on Univision, February 21st, at 7 pm Eastern/4 Pacific. You don’t want to miss it: The list of nominees is a who’s who of latin music including Juanes, Alejandro Sanz, Alejandra Guzmán, Maná, Ricardo Arjona, Elvis Crespo, Paulina Rubio, Prince Royce and Shakira, just to name a few.
And I’m honored to have been asked to give out a “Toma Leche Positive Song Award” for the most positive song to one of the nominees right here, today, on this blog.
Can you imagine what it must be like for nominees the evening before a big awards show? Nervous, right?! And it must be a little hard to keep a positive attitude, too. After all, most nominees do not win. On the other hand, most must have been dreaming since they were children of singing for tens of thousands and of winning top awards in front of their adoring fans. And now they have arrived as nominees. How excited and nervous they must be.
Just choosing the winner of the Toma Leche Positive Song Award makes me both nervous and excited!
I know it’s not exactly the same, but when I was a little girl my mom used to pour me a big mug of warm milk most every night before going to bed, but most definitely on the nights before a big dance recital. She believed it might help me to sleep better and wake up with a positive attitude and I think she may have been right.
So today, that’s my unsolicited advice to this year’s nominees. Have a glass of milk at bedtime the night before and the night after the awards, so you, too, may sleep better and may even wake up with a positive attitude. I hope you all do. That way, win or lose you, the glass may look half-full rather than the other way round.
In fact, here I am drinking a glass of milk before bedtime myself, because I’m already getting nervous and excited about who will win the Premio Lo Nuestro and I’m thinking it may help me to sleep better and wake up feeling positive, too.
Having said my bit, now is the time to make my choice for winner of the “Toma Leche Positive Song Award” for the Most Positive Song from the nominees of the Premio lo Nuestro Awards. Without further ado, today’s winner, for his lovely song about the simple, daily things in life, and definitely a half-full kind of song, Prince Royce for his song, “Las Cosas Pequeñas.”
One last thing: Don’t forget to tune into the awards show this Thursday, February 21st, on Univision to see if your favorite nominees win, and follow the conversation on Twitter, too, via the #Positivismo and #PremioLoNuestro hashtags before and after the event. And, if you want to keep the positivity going on a daily basis, check out the El Maestro Del Vaso Medio Lleno’s Facebook page here.
Enjoy the music and the show!!
