Yesterday, with just $25 dollars, I was able to provide a student in a rural community in Mexico the opportunity to improve his or her internet and digital skills for 1 year.  And it felt really good.

GlobalGiving_HappyHolidaysGC I’m reminded of how especially blessed my life is during the holidays, because of all the good people and things I have in my life. I receive lots of love and lots of gifts. Which makes the holidays the perfect time for me to give, too: To give love, give time to my family, and give to those in need.

There are many ways to give, and today I’m happy to let you know about GlobalGiving.org, which, if you haven’t heard already, is a virtual marketplace for philanthropy that allows anyone with an internet connection to support any of more than 1,000 pre-screened charities in the U.S. and around the world. These groups provide real-world solutions to help educate children, feed the hungry, build houses, buildx infrastructure, protect our environment, empower women and men, rescue animals, and support active military and veterans – just to name a few.GlobalGiving_SpreadLoveGC

Global Giving has been featured in the New York Times and The Washington Post, and on NPR and CNN, and provides people like you and me the opportunity to help in a easy, meaningful way.

So check this out, I received a $25 Global Giving Gift Card to apply to a project of my choice. There are so many projects it was hard to choose. The projects are separated by Country, Theme, Percentage Funded, etc. I finally decided on a project in México called, “Change Reality for 1,000 Rural Students.” What I love about this project is it helps young people develop computer skills. I use my computer every day, as do you I’m sure, and so we know how important it is nowadays to learn how to use a computer to navigate and communicate through the internet. Many kids in Mexico and other countries want to learn but don’t have the opportunity. This project will help someone in her quest. With just $25 dollars I helped a kid for one year, one whole year!! Can you believe that?

If you haven’t before, I would like to invite you to consider giving something unique this year to your family and friends: Global Giving gift cards.

GlobalGiving gift cards are 100% biodegradable, tax-deductible, and they’re guaranteed. They come in the form of print-at-home cards, or e-cards, or beautiful biodegradable physical cards (with free shipping!). The gift cards can be purchased using a credit/debit card or PayPal, and you can buy one with as little as $10 dollars. Let’s make a difference!

Happy Holidays and Happy Giving,

Disclosure: I received a $25 Global Giving Gift card to apply to a project of my choice. As always my comments and opinions are my own.
