So it’s time to share my new assignment as a Lowe’s Creative Ideas Network Member. Have you seen my kids’ room makeover? How about my curb appeal makeover? Well, now it’s time to tackle the backyard and get it summer ready, wooo hoooo, I have two months to complete the project, June and July, so far my husband has been working very hard on the sprinklers, some of them are not showing up when we turn the water on! So basically my backyard still looks the same. Let me show you how it looks right now.
Lots of cables from lights that used to work 10 years ago.
As you can see little grass (what there is is new!) and few plants.
Lots of pots, chairs covered in spider webs and rocks without a home.
This is my covered patio and my very neglected grass (the green parts are recently arrived).
As you can see it needs a lot of work, I’m lost! I need to choose an area and make it pretty, don’t you think? Do you have any ideas or tips? What do you think I should do?

I want to invite you to sign up for the Lowe’s Creative Ideas Magazine, it’s free! Also, check out Lowe’s at Pinterest, a great resource for ideas and pics to get you started on your own projects at home, and don’t miss the Lowe’s Creative Ideas website where you can find all kinds of great ideas.

Establish a planting bed with some edging, add a paver path and some plants in pots and you’re on your way. Nice size yard!
Since you are having trouble growing grass, why not build an additional patio for outdoor cooking and gatherings. You can do it with paving stones from Lowes.

i think you should plant tulips
My best tip would be to carefully choose perennials that are low maintenance and drought resistant

I would plant a couple trees and add some flowers and possibly a raised garden bed. You could get some inexpensive solar lights or string lights that would give your yard that extra touch!

I’d plant some plants or at least thin out the ones you have

My first suggestion would be to paint the fence- it is such a big part of the yard- a fresh coat of paint will make a big difference.
Thanks for the giveaway…if your town has a compost program I would get a load of compost to amend the soil in your back yard, rent a roto-tiller, and get to work: start with the perimeter planting beds, cull the plants you don’t want to keep. Next, mix in some compost, then head to Lowes’s for some plants !

I’d fill the beds with rocks. Put a circle enclosure (stone, plastic, whatever works for you) around the trees, leaving room to add soil and build it up and put in some low light flowering plants. Plant that lattice in the bare ground it is standing on, tie it off to the fence so it is sturdy and hang various pots of herbs on it. Around the bottom, add good soil and plant some ground cover like mint or clover.
I would add a (cheap) stone water feature.

Hello, how are you? Thank you for this opportunity. Rent a tiller, buy fifty pounds of lime, wear gloves, safety goggles, and steel toe boots. urn over your soil with the lime mixed in. The lime will acidify your lawn and repel grass eating pests. Plant your grass seeds a week later.
