Welcome to Mamá Latina Tips 12 days of giveaways!! I have a few giveaways live at the moment, check them out!

The Help Blu-ray/DVD is in stores!

I feel a special connection to this film, not just because the performances are spectacular and the story is inspiring, but also because I was lucky enough to hear and be inspired by the story behind the making of the story.   One fine morning, at a special event and screening at Dreamworks Studios in Burbank, CA., Dreamworks CEO Stacey Snider told us the incredible story of how the writer of the novel, Kathryn Stockett, and the director of the movie, Tate Taylor, were childhood friends and all they went through to make the movie they wanted to make!

Today I am pleased to be able to give away, not just one, but three copies of this beautiful movie, one each to three lucky Mama Latina Tips readers.

Have you seen the latest Golden Globe nominations?  The Help has received nominations for Best Movie, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress (2 actresses), and Best Original Song.  I hope it gets a few Oscar nominations as well, I can’t wait!!

The Help is one of my favorite movies of the year, I’ve seen it 4 times and I would see it a dozen more.  If you haven’t seen it yet, I invite you to see it.  It would be a wonderful last minute Christmas Gift, too.

Here is a little info about the film:

“The #1 New York Times best seller by Kathryn Stockett comes to vivid life through the powerful performances of a phenomenal ensemble cast. Led by Emma Stone, Academy Award®-nominated Viola Davis (Best Supporting Actress, Doubt, 2008), Octavia Spencer and Bryce Dallas Howard, The Help is an inspirational, courageous and empowering story about very different, extraordinary women in the 1960s South who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project — one that breaks society’s rules and puts them all at risk. Filled with poignancy, humor and hope — and complete with compelling, never-before-seen bonus features — The Help is a timeless, universal and triumphant story about the ability to create change.”

The Help comes in various formats: 3 Disc (Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy), 2 Disc (Blu-ray, DVD), 1 DVD, High Definition Movie Download, and Standard Definition Movie Download.  With audio and subtitles in English, Spanish, and Canadian French.  There are a lot of bonus features showing how special this movie is on the Blu-ray Disc.

Win it!

I just decided this would be the next audiobook to listen to. I would love to see the film after reading it! My favorite part of the trailer is the spunk and honesty about the relationships developed when the help cares for the children–it is real and personal, not just a job!

The Help seems to be a wondersful movie. From the trailer I liked the part when they servant ladies stood up for themselves. The best part was when the ladies were reading the book and were surprised about seeing themselves in the book. What a shock to them and a great way to get the point across.

My favorite part of the trailer would have to be the line near the end, “Courage sometimes skips a generation – thanks for bringing it back to our family,” which sums up one of the key themes of the movie perfectly. It looks like a wonderfully inspirational and moving film – can’t wait to see it (and possibly own a copy) – thanks!
