¡ Buena suerte!

ENGLISH

My family loves board games.  Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of playing Chinese Checkers, Parchese, Monopoly and other games with my mom.  Our kids are still small, but this hasn’t stopped us from stocking up on board games. We have games they can play now and some we are saving for later.

My favorite game growing up was Chinese Checkers and one of my husband’s all time favorites is Mastermind. He remembers playing a lot when he was a kid.  Not too long ago, he mentioned we should introduce Mastermind to our children because it’s fun and good for developing reasoning skills.   After that, I found Mastermind on twitter and they offered me the opportunity to review the game, so of course I agreed immediately!

The game arrived and my husband and son eagerly set it up to play.  My son is 6 and a half years old and it took him just a few practice games to understand how to play it.  Once he got it, he played well.

The purpose of the game is to guess a code.  It is designed for two players at a time.  One player is the codemaker and sets a code of colored pegs, the other player is the codebreaker and attempts to break the code with help from clues given by the codemaker. Players take turns being codemaker and codebreaker and whoever breaks the code in the least moves wins!

I love this game.  Mastermind is a game of deduction and is very fun to play.  Players must bring their thinking caps to the game, be careful not to make illogical assumptions, and focus on the clues they have been given before making the next move.  The game I received comes in a zippered carrying case, is very light and portable, and is perfect for traveling! Keep in mind that Mastermind has different editions, so check them all out at Matermind’s website.

Giveaway!

Yes, there is a giveaway.  Yeah!  Mastermind has generously offered not one, but two Mastermind Games, one each for two (2) lucky Mama Latina Tips readers.  Cool!  The only thing you need to do to participate for a chance to win is visit the Mastermind website, then come back and leave me a comment telling me something you learned about the game, or, tell me if you have any memories of playing the game.  That’s it! Now, after that and if you would like more opportunities to win, check out my extra entries page, then come back and leave a comment per option you complete, so I can count all of them.

This giveaway will end on Monday, Sept 27th, at 11:59 PST.  Open to US residents only.  Winner will be randomly chosen.  Void where prohibited.  Please no PO Boxes. Sponsor will send the game directly to the winners.  Have fun and good luck!

I learned that in order to win, players must use strategy and problem solving skills to outsmart their opponent. I’ve never played before, but it sure looks like fun!
