Here’s a very interesting project I would like to share with you.  From August 23-27 at the Dockweiler Youth Center in Los Angeles,  50 young girls from 7th to 12th grades will get the chance to participate in the “How to be a Girl” conference.  World renowned Author and talk show host Dr. Gilda Carle joins Award-Winning Community Activist and radio personality Josefa Salinas to empower these girls with the tools to succeed: from college preparation, to life skills like balancing a checkbook, to improving self-image through living a nutritious and healthy lifestyle.

Girls interested in participating need to turn in a 300-word essay and submit it on or before Aug. 6 (extended date, the website says July 30th), 2010, by visiting htbg.org.

The conference will be filmed to create a documentary intended to inspire girls across the country.  And the experience doesn’t end at week’s end.  Each girl will have the opportunity to be a part of the “How to be a Girl” mentorship program during the school year for continued support and guidance.

For more information please visit htbg.org.   The “How to be a Girl” conference is being presented in conjunction with Hot92.3 Radio and the “Heritage Begins Within” Foundation.
