ENGLISH

Today I would like to introduce Yoly.  Yoly has a Spanish blog about deals, tips for saving, products, coupons, etc.  She kindly agreed to make a video for Mamá Latina Tips about loyalty cards.  The video is in Spanish, but you will find the English transcription below.  Welcome Yoly!

“Using loyalty cards is a great way to start saving money on your grocery budget. Using them,  you can start saving money even before starting to clip coupons. This is a savvy way to save even when you are on vacation. One of the strategies  I recommend is to get loyalty cards for the supermarkets in your area.  Once you get them, compare prices and take advantage of those sales. For example, my price point for pork tenderloin is $1.99/lb. Knowing this, it helps me to decide when to stock up.

Also, there are supermarkets that give you more benefits for having the card. Many times you can save on your prescription drug refills or gas for your car.  These types of programs sometime require a minimum purchase – before any discounts – and that’s when using coupons also can help to reach those rewards faster.

Depending on your supermarket chain, you may also be able to take advantage of ecoupons (electronic coupons) that you can upload to your card.  Services like Cellfire.com or Shortcuts.com allow you to save on popular products without clipping coupons. Once you get the hang of it, you can add “paper” coupons to help you save even more. Using loyalty cards is a way to start your money saving journey and beat the budget you set for your grocery shopping needs.”

Yoly siempre con los mejores tips!

I hate cutting coupons because I can never remember to use them. But, the ecoupons sound right up my alley!

Silvia and Yoly, I don’t leave my house without my supermarket discount card. There are so many perks to using them. I get $20 back every time I have purchased $200 in baby products (with two young kids, it’s easy to spend $200 on baby products). I also get a free turkey or ham during holidays, as well as tons of other promotions. I have never tried the e-coupons, but I will now…! Gracias!!
